Belly Up To Detroit's Temporary Beer Bars This Week (2 of Them)

October 15, 2013, 8:28 AM

Beer and baseball go together like . . . [insert your cliché here].

So just in time for a trio (we hope) of ALCS nail-biters (speaking of clichés),  Woodward Beer Hall opens temporarily near Comerica Park. Nathan Skid has the suds at his Crain's blog:

Dan Gilbert's Bedrock Real Estate Services and The Somerset Collection . . . are sponsoring the transformation of a nondescript building, located at 1520 Woodward Ave., into Woodward Beer Hall.

Woodward Beer Hall will be open from 1 to 9 p.m. today, and 5 p.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday. All beers will be $5; proceeds will go toward the YMCA of Detroit. The beer hall will seat 150.. . .

Bellaire's Short's Brewing Company and Detroit's Atwater Brewery are supplying the suds. And, of course, there will be high-definition TVs.

The downtown attraction hall will return occasionally, Skid writes.

Separately, model D reports that craft suds will flow at a pop-up biergarten in the Villages on the east side this weekend  at 1420 Van Dyke from 3-9 p.m. each day.

Drinks and eats courtesy of Hatch contest participants Alley Wine, Batch Brewery Company, Treats by Angelique and Voigt's Soda House.

The event is designed to promote new businesses on Agnes Street.
