Detroit Musician Cat Fight: Kid Rock Knocks Madonna On CNBC

October 23, 2013, 9:27 AM

Appearing on "Squawk Box," CNBC's New York-based morning business news show, Kid Rock lashed out at Michigan-born Madonna when her name came up in an interview with co-host Joe Kernen.

"Madonna ain't done nothing for Detroit," said Rock, who appeared via a hookup from a Detroit studio, wearing a "Made in Detroit" ball cap. (Video is below.)

The show had a Detroit theme all morning, as Quicken Loans founder and chairman Dan Gilbert served as an honorary co-host, seated in the studio with Kernen and Beckie Quick.

Madonna was born in Bay City, grew up in the northern suburbs and attended the University of Michigan for a time. Unlike Rock, one of Detroit's best-known boosters, Madonna rarely discusses growing up in Southeast Michigan.

"There’s no place on earth, no city with more style than Detroit," Rock told CNBC viewers.
