Finley: Why Can't Snyder See That Detroit "Bufoons" Can't Save The City?
Mayor Dave Bing, the city council and other officials have shown they cannot manage the city of Detroit, Nolan Finley writes.
City officials have a detailed roadmap to fiscal stability from the state, a panel of financial experts, a new chief financial officer to provide expert guidance — and the motivation of imminent bankruptcy — but in the past week they've created an even bigger mess.
Writes Finley: "Bing's impotence was embarrassingly evident Friday when he warned that Detroit will run out of cash in a week, but then declared himself powerless to stop a lawsuit filed in the city's name by a department head whom the mayor apparently believes wields more power than he does."
Finley says it it time for Snyder to take action and appoint an emergency manager.
