Get Max Scherzer A Wedding Gift: Here's What Erica May And He Need

November 17, 2013, 2:23 PM by  Alan Stamm

A Cy Young Award lasts just a year. Max Scherzer's second November celebration will be for a reward with longer legs, so to speak.

The 29-year-old Tigers star and 28-year-old model Erica May will next Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz., 10 days after he earned baseball's top pitching honor.

If you're not going but are a huge enough fan to consider a present, the wedding registry shows what they still want from Macy's, Bed Bath and Beyond and Crate & Barrel. (What, you expected Tiffany and Neiman Marcus? He's a Detroit player, after all.)

How cool would it be to be the fan who gives Max Scherzer and Erica May this Wine Enthusiast rack?

Just $20 could bring a signed thank you note for having Crate & Barrel ship a nonstick baking sheet directly to them. Actually, they'd like a pair.

At the same price point is a laundry drying rack from Macy's. Again, two are wanted.

Feel like splurging? These remain up for grabs from Macy's six days before the ceremony:

  • Walnut-stained hardwood rack for 12 wine bottles, $60.
  • Nambe comndiment server ($150), coasters ($135 for six) or jewelry caddy ($75).

The campus sweethearts, who live in Birmingham during the season and Scottsdale the rest of the year, have "been together ever since we met in college at Missouri,” Scherzer told Steve Kornacki of Fox Sports Detroit in June.

“She was a softball player, and we were working out at the training facility. I came to find out, she was a pitcher, and she really caught my eye. . . . She has the looks and smarts, too.."

May, a history major, finished her degree at Colorado State in her home state and is working online for a master's in business administration, Scherzer told Fox. He left college during junior year as a 2006 first-round draftee of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Here's what the bride-to-be tweeted Wednesday after the Cy Young news:
