Max Scherzer has been off the continent lately, far from turkey dinners and roster changes on his team.
The Tigers pitcher and Erica May-Scherzer went to New Zealand and Fiji after their Nov. 23 wedding in Scottsdale, Ariz. And because the new bride is an avid tweeter and Instagrammer, we get glimpses of their adventures.
On Thanksgiving Day, she tweeted: "I'm thankful for my new hubby, family and amazing friends. I'm very lucky!"
The 28-year-old model, a former University of Missouri softball pitcher who met Scherzer as a student there, also posted about bungee jumping, mountain biking, helicopter touring and following a few U.S. football games during the post-wedding trip.
Last weekend, she teased 955 followers with this:

The onetime campus sweethearts saw Missouri's 28-21 win over Texas A&M to reach this Saturday's SEC championship game.
Shannon Hogan, a Fox Sports Detroit reporter who also went to Mizzou, commented on her friend's feed: "Very impressed you watched the game on your honeymoon in paradise!" May-Scherzer replied: "As if we'd have it any other way."
She's a Colorado native with a history degree from Colorado State, where she transferred when Scherzer -- now 29 -- left Missouri during junior year as a 2006 first-round draftee of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
