Just four weeks after barkeeps began pouring Detroit-made whiskey, gin and vodka at Two James Spirits, the city's first  legal distillery since Prohibition earns national attention.

Al Jazeera America, which set up a Detroit bureau in August, aired a two-minute report (below) on the Michigan Avenue newcomer that opened a tasting room Nov. 1.

"From ingredients to packaging, everything at Two James Spirits is local," notes the network's local correspondent, Bisi Onile-Ere.

The owners considered locations all across the country, but they say Detroit stood apart from the rest.

She shows the distilling process in shiny copper vats and speaks with owners Andrew Mohr and Peter Bailey.

"It was clear to us that Detroit was the right place," Mohr says. "We're really honored to bring back distilling history and get back to Detroit's roots with whiskey and other spirits."
