Mike Duggan To Be Formally 'Investitured' As Mayor Today

For the 43 men who have served at U.S. President and the countless mayors and governors across this country since its founding, a simple inauguration has been sufficient. 

Detroit politicians, however, have always been a little...umm...special. They like to wear tiaras and fly first-class (for the kids' sake), so that's why Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, the new Brenda Jones-led City Council, and the Detroit Police Commission will hold an "investiture ceremony" Tuesday morning at the Coleman Young Building.

And it will be the most exclusive investituring event ever because, due to space limitations in the Erma Henderson Auditorium, "this event is NOT open to the general public."

Duggan was officially sworn in as mayor on January 1.
