Video: Wacky I-94 Snowstorm Driver Doesn't Have Tires, Roof Or Windows

January 10, 2014, 6:06 PM

A lawbreaking adventurer motored along I-94 early this week at the controls of a small machine without a gas pedal, windshield, roof, trunk or even wheels.

He zipped on a snowmobile during the polar vortex, as shown in a snowy 41-second video posted Tuesday by Dan Kirk -- the driver or a buddy of his.

Kirk's unnarrated clip, his first on YouTube, has been seen almost 57,000 times in four days. It's impossible to tell whether the blizzard ride was in Metro Detroit or on another part of the interstate that runs between Port Huron and New Buffalo in Michigan's southwest corner.

Michigan's vehicle code bans snowmobiling on limited access highways such as I-94. Even on smaller roads, operators have to stay "at "the extreme right of the open portion of the right-of-way" -- the shoulder, in other words.

Alaina McConnell of Metro Times blogged about the video earlier Friday.
