Meet Detroit's Sweet Seven As Google Demo Day Reaches The Final Round

Call it "Detroit Idol." Eighteen semi-finalists are down to seven hopefuls.

Those who made the cut will be on stage, so to speak, at Grand Circus Detroit next Wednesday evening to determine who goes to a two-day national finale in April near San Francisco.

There's no singing or guitar-playing in this Google Demo Day competition, just coding, app development, web design and business planning. Bridget Vis brings us up-to-date at Crain's:

Seven Detroit and Ann Arbor-based startups are one step closer to pitching their business plans to Google.

The seven finalists in the Google Demo Day competition advanced this week. The winning business will have a chance to pitch their startup to Google.

Google Demo Day is part of the tech company's Google for Entrepreneurs Program, and competitions are being held across the country. One winner from each city will advance to the finals in Silicon Valley.     

These fledgling ventures still are in the running, Crain's reports:

MyFab5 amd Wisely are from Ann Arbor, while the others are Detroit-based.
