6+ Spectacular Things To Do In Detroit This Weekend

March 14, 2014, 1:30 PM

St. Patrick's Day In Corktown

Head to Corktown Sunday for the best St. Paddy's day celebration in town! The revelry includes opportunities for running, racing, parading, dancing, eating and drinking in any combination. Michigan Avenue will surely be filled with green.

Hell Yeah Detroit compiled a great list of Irish bars and restaurants to check out in the area. Races for kids and adults start at 9:30AM Sunday. The St. Patrick's Day Parade starts down Michigan Ave. at 12.

Celebrate Pi Day

That's right! Friday is 3.14. Please grab your favorite nerd and take them for tasty pie. We recommend Dangerously Delicious Pies -- they have everything from breakfast pie to meat pie to decadent dessert pie. Or maybe Sweet Potato Sensations. Or maybe Love's Custard Pie. Okay, they're all good.

Celebrate Detroit Day

Speaking of holidays based on calendar dates, Thursday was 3.13 -- Detroit Day! The unofficial holiday celebrating our city's area code may have passed already, but it's never too late to give the D some love.

Grab a coney and a Faygo and celebrate this city any way you like.

See Detroit Sing

Mosaic Theater is home to some wildly talented Detroit performers. The group has been featured on NBC. Plus, their own Malaya Watson is on this season of American Idol. In sum: these kids have some serious pipes. Check out a video of their performances here.

See their newest show Singsation! at the DIA any day this weekend.

Pretend You're In Mad Men

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra hosts an evening full of Mad Men-era music and some stiff drinks. They explain, "A few ounces of Paul Anka, a shot of Brenda Lee, a splash of Ben E. King - all mixed into a "Mad Man" musical cocktail!"

See the concert Friday or Saturday.

Hold A Human Brain

The Michigan Science Center teams up with Wayne State University for brain day -- a day dedicated to learning about the science of the brain.

Hold a human brain and talk to scientists all day on Saturday.
