6+ Incredible Things To Do In Detroit This Weekend

March 21, 2014, 11:16 AM

Marche Du Nain Rouge

It's that time again! This weekend, Detroit will banish a tiny, gross looking mythical devil thing called the Nain Rouge by marching around town. The legend of Nain Rouge stretches all the way back to Cadillac's days -- seeing the little guy means certain destruction. Now, Detroiters just preemptively force him out of town with this giant parade/street party.

Don your reddest, sparkliest, strangest outfit and join hundreds of others Sunday at 1PM at the corner of Cass and Canfield.

Businesses around town get in on the fun as well, offering Nain Rouge discounts or hosting after parties. See a list of participants here.

Run Du Nain Rouge

Every holiday needs a 5K! The Run Du Nain Rouge races through Midtown prior to the Marche Du Nain Rouge.

Run or watch Sunday at 11 AM.

Because We Can't Get Enough Nain

There's also a dodgeball tournament in the Nain's honor.

Channel your inner average joe by playing at the Roberto Clemente Recreation Center on Saturday at 11:30. Sign up is open to teams and individuals.

Freep Film Festival

The Detroit Free Press hosts the very first Freep Film Fest this weekend. The event brings together Michigan-themed documentaries and panel discussions to screens throughout the city.

See the lineup right over here.

Let's Dance

Fans of So You Think You Can Dance will recognize the name Sonya Tayeh. The famous choreographer will be featured along with others at a night of contemporary dance that showcases the influence of Detroit on the New York dance scene.

Check it out downtown at Music Hall Saturday night.

Shakespeare In Detroit

This local theater company presents "Antony And Cleopatra." Check out the new show at the fantastical Recycle Here center near where 94 meets the Lodge.

The show runs Friday and Saturday nights at 7PM.
