The Tigers team has a cloud hanging over its head and question marks remain regarding sexual allegations involving Evan Reed.

On Tuesday, manager Brad Ausmus addressed the matter while on the west coast, according to Tom Gage of the Detroit News.

“It certainly has an effect in the sense that there are questions I have to answer about it,” Ausmus said. “I’ve been on teams where there have been off-field issues. But once the bell rings, once the first pitch is thrown, it’s all business.

“I think baseball players, and athletes in general, are very good, when they step between the lines, at separating the game from everything else surrounding the game. The bottom line for baseball players is to win baseball games.”

“On a team level,” Ausmus said, “I think (the distraction factor) could be overrated. It may distract an individual, but as a group, I don’t think it’s as much of a distraction as it’s often portrayed.”
