Will the SkyBar Lounge Get the Boot from the David Stott Building?

April 11, 2014, 10:11 AM

For the second time in a week, we've heard talk of evictions for two pretty cool places in Detroit.

The other day, we heard that  the eatery, Good Girls Go to Paris Crepes, agreed to move out of the Park Shelton in Midtown within three months.

Now, JC Reindl of the Detroit Free Press reports  that the SkyBar Lounge could get bounced from the David Stott building, a 38-story art deco tower at 1150 Griswold that is mostly vacant.

It comes down to a rent dispute.

SkyBar Lounge is responsible for $6,850-per-month in rent for its three floors, the Freep reports.  DDI Group, a Chinese-based development firm bought the building last fall for $9.4 million.

The Freep wrote:

In an interview today,SkyBar owner Lynn Uralli said she has never missed paying rent, but has been putting the money into an escrow account since December because, in her opinion, DDI violated its end of the lease agreement by failing to obtain an official certificate of occupancy for the 33rd floor.

DDI has notified the bar in January that it was terminating its lease.  -- A.L.
