Department of Public Works Director Bill Zimmer noticed a critter in distress Wednesday morning near his home.
Before long, his DPW workers removed the sewer grate collar by using vegetable oil, dish soap and TLC to free the young raccoon.
They gave it a shower.
Then they put out a press release.
