The Obama administration is trying to show a little love for Detroit.

And the U.S. Treasury Department wants to make sure everyone knows that.

The department issued a statement on its website with the headline: "Two-Day Visit Highlights the Obama Administration’s Continued Commitment to Detroit’s Revitalization."

U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew will visit Detroit on Thursday and Friday  to show the administration's "continued commitment to the city’s revitalization and explore ways to promote job creation and economic growth."

On Thursday, Lew will meet with foundation leaders to discuss ways the non-profit sector can help spur Detroit’s revitalization by developing and investing in programs that support economic development, promote education and workforce skills training, and increase access to capital, the statement said.

On Friday, he'll  tour New Center Stamping, a metal stamping business in Detroit which received $3.7 million in funding from the Treasury Department’s State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI).  He'll also meet that day with area business and community leaders to discuss Detroit’s economy.

President Obama generated a lot of political capital during his last campaign when he came to Michigan to show the success of bailing out the auto companies.
