Josh Linkner, head of Detroit Venture Partners, talks up Detroit on his appearance on the show TheStreets.

“There are certainly negative headlines," he says. "But what is really happening on the ground is a positive, overwhelmingly positive sense of transformation."

Linkner, the author of the new book, “The Road to Reinvention," says Detroit is traveling that road.

"There's new industries popping up in the Downtown Central Business where my office is; 99 percent residential occupancy. Developers can't even keep up with  demand," he tells host Gregg Greenberg. "The blight is going away, There's a real thoughtful plan in place."

"I really believe that we'll be looking back at this five year stretch as the greatest turnaround story in American history."

"Detroit is a city on the comeback," he adds.  -- Allan Lengel
