Ex-city hall veteran Derrick Miller, who turned on his childhood friend Kwame Kilpatrick and testified as a star witness against him, has a nice plan worked out to repay back taxes to the IRS over a span of 100 years, thanks to a federal judge.

It's the second nice break he's gotten. Six weeks ago, Miller who pleaded guilty to taking bribes and tax-related crimes, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds to 12 months in a halfway house. He could have gotten up to 10 years in prison under the federal sentencing guidelines.

On Thursday, Edmunds ordered that Miller, 44, pay $240,858 restitution at the rate of $200 a month with no interest, Robert Snell of the Detroit News reports. In 100 years, he should be squared away with the government.

Snell notes that the very long-term payment plan was reminiscent of Kilpatrick’s restitution plan that came from the text-message scandal. Kilpatrick agreed to pay $1 million to Detroit. Initially, he was to pay $160 a month, which would have taken him 448 years to repay, Snell writes.

Snell writes that it is unclear if Miller, who now lives in Virginia, has a job.

Kilpatrick is currently serving a 28-year sentence in Oklahoma. His buddy Bobby Ferguson is serving 21 years in West Virginia.
