Honigman Tops Local Law Firms In National Survey, And It's Not Just the Cocktails

Why would a young attorney want to go to work for the Detroit law firm of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP?

Survey respondents pointed to the firm's automatic $5,000 bonus for new associates, interest-free home loans, paid indoor parking and Friday afternoon cocktail parties.

Detroit-based Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone plc tied for 11th in the Midwest.

According to the survey, associates said Miller Canfield offers associates a high level of responsibility and on-site parking, pays bar membership dues and subsidizes cell phone and gym expenses. A lack of training is cited as a "downer" for the firm.
