In the 1970s, the antacid Rolaids ran a commercial:

"How do you spell relief?"

"R-O-L-A-I-D-S"

Now, the Tigers hope it's spelled:S-O-R-I-A.

WXYZ and other media outlets report that the Tigers club, which is in dire need of bullpen help, has acquired right-hand reliever Joakim Soria, 30, from the Texas Rangers.

The stations reports that the team gave up top pitching prospects Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel.

Will this help stabilize the bullpen?  One can only hope.

WXYZ reports Soria was one of the most sought after pitchers on the trade market with a record this year of 1-3 with 17 saves in 19 chances. His ERA is 2.70 and he has a a WHIP of 0.87.

The station reports it's not clear if he'll become a closer or be a set up man to get to Joe Nathan. -- Allan Lengel
