The Detroit Institute of Art began installation for the summer season this week of 83 Inside|Out high-quality reproduction masterpieces from its collection in eight cities in Metro Detroit.
In its fifth year, the program will install, mostly outdoors, 7-12 masterpieces in each of the following cities: Wixom, Dearborn, Brownstown Township, Royal Oak, Oak Park, Mt Clemens, Detroit and St. Clair Shores.
Jillian Reese, a community relations specialist for the DIA, says the summer program will run through the first week in November. The program also includes a spring season.
She said it's a great opportunity for people who can't make it to the museum to see some great art or explore other cities, or for that matter, their own backyard.
She said the DIA website and the Facebook page, DIA Inside/Out Detroit will have maps to show locations of the art.
The paintings will include works by such artists as Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh.
