Several bullet holes are visible in the bricks and a window of an upstairs bedroom in the townhome on East Street early today, Robert Allen writes in the Free Press.

The scars are the result of a shooting incident after midnight Wednesday that left an 8-year-old boy dead. He was sleeping in his bed when the bullets raked his home, near Mack Avenue and I-75.

In The Detroit News, Tom Greenwood reports The victim, identified by family as Jakari Pearson, was hit in the upper body as he slept in bed.

Family members told Greenwood the shooter might have been a former boyfriend of Jakari's mother.
