Royal Oak seemed a little more glamorous on Sunday night.
That's because Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and Martha Reeves showed up on the red carpet at the Emagine theater in downtown Royal Oak for the premiere of the movie "Sparkle," a remake of a 1976 film, the Detroit News reports.
The remake was shot in Detroit.
The film features the late Whitney Houston and "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks.
"I came out because it was Whitney's last performance," Franklin, who was very close to Houston and her family, said according to the News.
The movies is about a young woman who fight battles her deepest emotions to become a star.
