Flashy, Splashy Street Art: Detroiter's New Website Shows 500 Local Murals

Splashy, flashy murals seem ever-present in the Detroit area -- street art that brightens neighborhoods and shopping strips.

Now Detroiter Viranel Clerard creates The Detroit Mural Project, a site showing 500 murals. Another 500 are photographed and queued to go up on the site, writes Robin Runyan at Curbed Detroit.

It's organized by district, with a photo of each wall painting, artist, location and condition. Sites are in Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park.

Clerard, 24, lives in Corktown and works at Trader Joe’s in Ann Arbor on the weekends. During the week, he drives an Uber, gives tours, and documents murals.
