Kelly Stafford shares progress after brain tumor surgery

Kelly Stafford after surgery to remove a brain tumor two weeks ago.

Kelly Stafford, wife of Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, is making progress in her recovery from surgery to remove a brain tumor two weeks ago.

The surgery "wiped out my entire balance system on my right side," Stafford wrote a week ago Instagram.

"I can’t turn my head right without feeling college drunk... I have to rework my brain to know that it can only rely on my left side, which will take time, a good amount of time."

Thursday, she shared a selfie from the gym — a sign of progress. Stafford writes she has weened off steroids prescribed after the surgery and is resting with company from her kids between "balance driven" workouts and brain exercises.

Day 14 post op. I’ve been off steroids for two days now. Feels good to be off of those meds. A few Tylenol’s here and there, but that’s it. I have realized my mornings are better than my afternoons so I have been trying to take advantage. I try to get out of the house, do a “balance driven” workout, and do my brain exercises.. that takes about an hour and honestly, after that, I’m exhausted. The rest of my day is spent on the couch and WITH MY KIDS
