Popular Kim's Family Restaurant In Troy Closing After Nearly 45 Years

August 15, 2019, 11:02 PM

Kim's Family Restaurant, a popular eating spot on E. Long Lake Road in Troy that has been serving Chinese and American fare for more than 44 years, is closing at the end of the month.

On Facebook earlier this week, the owners wrote:

After over 44 years of serving the Troy community, the owners of Kim's Family Restaurant will close our business so that we may enjoy our retirement.

We will continue to serve our loyal fans until we close our doors on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 10 pm. We thank you for your support and we appreciate your patience during our transition.

Customers respond with kind words:

  • Anne Reibling: Thank you for your many years of service! Our family loves coming and everyone is so friendly and thoughtful.
  • Tammy Moore: Congratulations on your retirement. My daughter works for a Chinese restaurant up north. Are you selling the restaurant? The owner's asked. You can message me. We moved from your area 7 yrs ago but used to bring the kids in all the time!
  • Teri Clark-pare: Thank you for the many years you've given us You will be missed. Enjoy your retirement.
  • Sheryl Biermann: OMG....don't close!! You guys are the BEST!!

We first saw the story about the closing in the Detroit Free Press.
