A slice of Somerset mall is coming to downtown Detroit

September 18, 2019, 7:54 AM

Good news for anyone who's ever found themselves in Detroit longing for the retail luxuries of Big Beaver Road: a little piece of the Somerset Collection is coming downtown.

According to Crain's, the Troy Mall's parent company has signed a five-year lease that will let its retailers use the Metropolitan Building for pop-ups on a rotating basis. The John R building houses the Element Hotel, which re-opened this year following extensive renovation.

The 1,400 square-foot space will be activated "soon," Crain's reports. The first tenant will be an unidentified jeweler.
