Detroit's elected leaders are getting their third pay bump since the city exited bankruptcy in 2014.
The Detroit News reports council voted uninimously on an increase schedule that gives it, the mayor and city clerk Janice Winfrey an immediate 3-percent salary increase, plus two additional 2.5-percent increases by the middle of next year.
Detroit's Elected Officials Compensation Commission recommended the raises.
Most councilmembers and the city clerk currently earn just under $83,000 per year. The mayor makes about $175,000.
