The long-awaited opening of Buddy's Pizza at 1565 Broadway in downtown Detroit's Madison Building is finally here.
The 7,000-square-foot shop across from the Detroit Opera House and steps from Comerica Park and Ford Field starts with what it calls "a soft opening" Thursday.
The grand opening next Wednesday features a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. and Motown music and Motown Museum merchandise. All sales from the grand opening will be donated to the Motown Museum.
Reservations for the grand opening, from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., can be made by emailing your full name and the number of people (up to four) to DowntownOpening@BuddysPizza.com.
Besides a regular menu, the restaurant will have a quick-service area to grab a carryout slice, sandwiches and wraps.
The restaurant is expected to take a bite out of business from other downtown pizza joints.

Last but not least, The "Belle Isle" pizza: Wisconsin brick cheese, diced tomatoes, garlic, oregano, fresh basil, Asiago cheese and tomato basil sauce.
