Detroit Digest: Diving Into Steamy Bowls of Ramen at Detroit's Johnny Noodle King

December 08, 2019, 10:03 PM

Johnny Noodle King is a warm, hip outpost in the middle nowhere at the edge of Fort Street in southwest Detroit, in the shadow of the Ambassador Bridge. The former dive diner, Johnny Ham King, was transformed in 2014 into a modern, eye-pleasing Ramen joint, where in the cold months in particular, the tasty bowls of soup offer a reprieve from the bite of the bone-chilling Michigan weather.

The place is the creation of Jacques and Christine Driscoll, owners of nearby Green Dot Stables on West Lafayette Boulevard

Carlos Parisi and Kyle Sammy, hosts of Deadline TV's "Detroit Digest," dropped in the other day at Johnny Noodle King, 2601 W. Fort St., to sample a variety of dishes.

Open Monday-Wednesday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-midnight, and noon-10 p.m. Sunday.
