DTE's implosion of 'two brothers' plant rocks east side

Some east-siders were startled by a loud explosion this morning at 9 a.m. on the dot. It may have sounded like Canada had declared war, but it was only the implosion of DTE's Conners Creek plant on the Detroit River. 

The plant was destroyed to make room for Fiat Chrysler's expansion of its plant operations nearby. For years, its twin smokestacks were known as the "two brothers," and were used as a navigational aid by mariners on the river. 

Predictably, the spectacle drew gawkers and photographers to public lots and boat clubs nearby. Here's a nice video from the Associated Press:
