Gallery: Love is in focus this holiday season in downtown Detroit

December 17, 2019, 6:21 AM

It's the most wonderful -- and photographable -- time of the year.

Although they've been shot many times, many ways, we still enjoy seeing couples pose at the Campus Martius tree, rink and winter market. We shared seven pairs a week after this year's tree lighting and now are back with seven more, continuing a tradition since 2016.

Though downtown attractions draw visitors all year, December's settings are particularly romantic. They include skating, weekend carriage rides, the 60-foot tree, twinking lights and decorated vendor tents at Cadillac Square and Capitol Park.

Another bright sign of the season comes Sunday evening with a Menorah in the D lighting ceremony at Campus Martius. (Free entrertainment and refreshments start at 4:30 p.m.)

So it's no surprise to see a stream of snapshots such as these on Instagram:

Amber Booker and Joseph Booker visited from Novi two Sundays ago.

Brennan Jones and Corinne Schnuphase cuddle at a photo-ready bench in the Cadillac Lodge heated tent.

Maria Carolina and her husband Giovanni got married two months ago in Georgia.

Gina Aula of Dearborn Heights, a 2019 Wayne State music graduate, and "the boyfriend" (as her captions say).

Real estate brokers Erica Collica, 35, and Kyle Swink, 34, at Capitol Park with Kyle.

Carly and Michael Dziewit, parents of three children, enjoy a holiday time "date." She's a registered nurse at University Hospital in Ann Arbor.
