That's all, Spartans.
Michigan State University head football coach Mark Dantonio is leaving the job, although he intends to stay in the athletic department in some capacity. Dantonio announced his intentions today on Twitter.
Not much else is known about who might take over, although the Freep reports Luke Fickell, currently head coach for the University of Cincinnati, is the rumored frontrunner.
"My plan is to say on within the university and athletic department in a role involving special projects, especially transitioning our players, both current and incoming, to their next challenges," Dantonio wrote in a letter posted to Twitter.
"I will miss it all but I feel the sacrifices that I have made away from my family must now become my priority."
To all Spartans: Thank you for everything. You have truly helped my dreams come true. pic.twitter.com/uKkubvp1cW
