March 16, 2020, 7:17 AM

Slowly but surely, the last of Detroit's big public venues are closing temporarily due to the spread of the coronavirus.

MGM Grand, Greektown and MotorCity casinos announced late Sunday and early Monday that they shut today for at least two weeks, a move that will cost the state and city millions in tax revenue, The Detroit News reports.

Casinos stayed open over the weekend despite Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's call to ban gatherings of 250 people or more.

Across the river in Windsor,  Caesars Windsor closed indefinitely Sunday under an Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation directive covering the province's 10 casions.
