Like the rest of the world, the North American International Auto Show isn't sure what the future holds.

The public show is scheduled to run from June 13-20, with media and industry previews starting June 7. That's in question for the same reason that the Detroit Regional Chamber this week bumped its Mackinac Policy Conference from late May to mid-September.

"We are in daily contact with all of our partners as well as state and local officials and health experts as we continue to carefully evaluate the situation," says a weeks-old statement. "We are still several weeks before our June event and we have time before construction would begin.

"While timing is an important consideration now, our top priority will always be the safety and health of participating automakers, sponsors and the public."

"Planning for the June show is ongoing," spokesman Brent Snavely tells Deadline Detroit on Thursday. "NAIAS continues to carefully evaluate the situation."

This year is the first time the show has been moved from January to June. Organizers and attendees have been looking forward to a different format, plus outdoor tie-ins at Hart Plaza and Eastern Market.
