First she was the "failing Michigan governor" now she's "the young — a woman" governor from Michigan who he's had a "big problem with."

President Donald Trump attacked Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, 48, Thursday night on Fox News for the second time in two weeks, hours after she formally requested he issue a disaster declaration in Michigan in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Michigan has the fifth-most cases of any state, with 2,856 people confirmed positive and 60 deaths as of Thursday.

Such a declaration would let the state provide rental assistance and temporary housing, quickly set up field hospitals to treat patients, and provide counseling and therapy.

Speaking on Sean Hannity's program, Trump didn't rule out issuing the declaration, saying he "has to make a decision on that." But he jabbed repeatedly at Whitmer, claiming "all she does is sit there and blame the federal government."

"We've had a big problem with the young — a woman governor," he added. "You know who I'm talking about — from Michigan. We don't like to see the complaints.

"She is a new governor, and it's not been pleasant."

Whitmer takes the high road on Twitter, reiterating her call for relief.

This is the second recent war of words betweeen the two. Last week, in urging Trump declare a national disaster, she told MSNBC "The federal governnent hasn't been prepared." Trump hit back on Twitter, saying "Failing Michigan governor must work harder and be much more proactive."
