Michigan Gov. Whitmer Again Irritates Trump, Who Fires Back

Gretchen Whitmer is a serial target of President Donald Trump.

Recently, he twice tweeted support for Lansing protesters who oppose the governor's stay-home order. Before that, he referred to the first-term governor as "Half" Whitmer and "that woman from Michigan."

On Sunday morning, Whitmer, a potential vice presidential candidate, told CNN host Jake Tapper that the state still needs more swabs, reagents and test kits. She also called for a better national strategy.

That didn't sit well with Trump, who says he watched. On Sunday night, during a virtual Fox News town hall, he shot back:

"We had a phone call five days ago with the governors. I was on the call with Vice President Mike Pence, who's done a great job. He's a head of the committee, the task force.

"Every governor there, we asked them, 'what do you need?' Not one governor needed anything. Now all of a sudden, you see her on the Sunday, I watched it. 'Well, we should get this or we should get that.' She ought to get back to running her state properly because she should have brought it up on the phone call."

WDIV reported Sunday night that it reached out to the governor for comment, but had not heard back.
