In a near-deserted Hart Plaza, a few hardcore Movement fans groove on, distantly

Deprived of Movement, the Detroit electronic dance music fest that has kicked off summer in Hart Plaza for two decades, some EDM fans came anyway, milling around the empty space, having their own Sads.

Brian McCollum of the Free Press flagged down a couple:

These longtime Movement attendees had come for their own personalized, masked, socially distanced version of a Detroit ritual. Some skateboarded along the vacant concrete where the popular Pyramid Stage usually sits. Others gathered on blankets along the Detroit River, or parked themselves by Hart Plaza's idle fountain.

..."This is my culture," said Alec Adamic of Detroit. "This is what I'm supposed to be doing today."

With no one else nearby, Adamic and a friend stationed themselves in a spot where they had spent countless crowded hours in recent years: just by Jefferson Avenue, soaking up homegrown, true-to-the-roots Detroit talent.

Some played music from the Movement livestream of DJs playing in socially distanced venues on their personal devices. All promised to be back whenever the festival returns.
