Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed an executive order Monday reopening bars and restaurants throughout Michigan on June 8 while lifting the stay-home order.
They will be able to operate at 50-percent capacity, as hospitality businesses have been doing up north since May 22. Groups will have to be seated at least six feet apart and servers will wear masks.
Retail stores can resume full operations on Thursday.
This next stage also is expected to open the door for office workers who can't work remotely. Despite the lifting of the stay-home order, barber shops, salons or spas will not be allowed to open, the Associated Press reports. Gyms, hair salons, indoor theaters and casinos will remain closed for now.
Gyms and fitness centers can offer outdoor activities such as classes, practices, training sessions and games as long as participants, trainers and spectators stay six feet apart.
Outdoor crowds of up to 100 will be allowed so long as people social distance. Indoor gatherings of more than 10 will be prohibited.
Swimming pools and day camps for kids will also be
permitted to reopen.
Aside from up north, bars have been closed and restaurants have only been offering carryout and delivery.
