Second place goes to this festive duplex at 2253-2255 Wabash St., a block and a half from Michigan Avenue.

In the air there's a feeling of Christmas throughout Detroit's oldest neighborhood.

Residents in some of Corktown's 19th century homes are making spirits bright on a dark year's longest nights. Eleven owners joined the Corktown Historical Society's third annual outdoor decor contest, which drew 133 online votes from neighbors.

The three winners on Bagley, Labrosse and Cochrane streets were posted Sunday and will receive undisclosed prizes. They and sparkling runners-up are shown in seven more photos from the society, founded in 1979.

Other sponsors are the Corktown Business Association, Corktown Neighborhood Association and Corktown Cultural Center.

This top vote-getter is at 1439 Bagley St.

This inviting scene at 1328 Labrosse St. wins third place.

This honorable mention display is at 1671 Leverette St. between 10th and 11th streets.

Even the ground is lit at 1439 Bagley, the top honoree.

1420 Labrosse St., another runner-up.

A cozy, cute bungalow at 1333 Labrosse St.

Lighting isn't flashy at 1632 Leverett St., but architectural charm and colors add to the seasonal glow.
