Hip-hop artist Big Sean becomes the Detroit Pistons creative director of innovation. He'll help design and promote merchandise lines, pick music for games and create co-branded community initiatives.

"I look forward to creatively finding new ways to contribute to their legacy and continue their dedication to the community through sports, art, and, of course, music," the six-time Grammy nominee says in a release.

Pistons owner Tom Gores comments: “We share a common desire to use the power of sports and entertainment to improve our community and make a positive impact on people’s lives. I’m excited to see what we can do working together."

The first act is to add his "Don Life" logo to the Pistons practice jersey.

“It’s a dream come true and a real honor to get to work with the iconic Detroit Pistons,” says the performer, 32.  “I grew up in the city, which naturally made me a fan of the Bad Boys. I would later have a Grant Hill poster on my wall and then, against all odds, would watch the ’04 Pistons go on to win the championship, inspiring the whole city of Detroit. I look forward to creatively finding new ways to contribute to their legacy and continue their dedication to the community through sports, art, and, of course, music.”

Piston Sekou Doumbouya models the new practice jerseys.

Big Sean, aka Sean Michael-Leonard Anderson, signed with Kanye West's GOOD Music in 2007, Def Jam Recordings in 2008, and Roc Nation in 2014.

He released his debut studio album, Finally Famous, in 2011, which rose to number three on Billboard 200, and was certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

He was born in California and came to Detroit with his family when he was three months old. He attended the Detroit Waldorf School and graduated from Cass Technical High School.
