Detroit has cited more than two dozen businesses that allegeldy shirked state Covid health safety rules.

At least 400 complaints have been made by phone and online about potential violators, Chief Public Health Officer Denise Fair tells WWJ. Twenty-seven tickets carrying fines of up to $1,000 have been issued over the past month.

"My teams are spending a lot of time on the weekends and throughout the week, following up on the investigations," Fair said. "So, about 30 days ago the mayor and I announced a call-in line for residents to report violators. And we have heard, we've heard from our residents."

Most violations are for indoor dining, banned statewide through at least Jan. 15. Recent violators include a motorcycle club and McCarthy's Pub & Grill on the lower west side.
