Michigan Trump supporters returning from Wednesday's violent uprising at the U.S. Capitol had a surprising number of positive things to say the deadly event.

WWJ Newsradio caught up with a four-bus caravan pulling back into the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi Thursday morning.

"We had a great time. It was a great, fun, fun, fun, fun day," said a woman who identified herself only as Patty.

Asked whether she was surprised by what happened, she said, "I think we're gonna leave it at it was a great day and we're really excited about Trump's inauguration."

Steve Jayner of Lake Orion agreed, saying also that "it was a great time."

Slyvia Halpert of Rochester spoke of "great fellowship" among participants and said her lone regret was being unable to "have a party with everyone who was on the bus."

In regard to whether she felt safe as Wednesday's riot ensued, Halpert said, "You just do what God wants you to do and everything's great. I love God and he loves me."
