Beaumont Health's electronic myBeaumontChart system crashed Friday morning due to people logging in to sign up for the Covid vaccine, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The site went down about 9:15 a.m. and the IT team  was working to bring it back.

"We're encouraged by the overwhelming response to expanding our Covid-19 vaccinations," the Southfield-based hospital system posts on social media. "We're aware of periodic connectivity issues with myBeaumontChart and our teams are working diligently to address."

Beaumont and other hospitals in southeastern Michigan said Thursday that they would vaccinate their patients ages 65 and older, with appointments for immunizations coming up starting Monday.

Those who want to schedule a vaccine through Beaumont must follow these steps:

  • Create a myBeaumontChart account or log into an existing one.

  • Confirm your current email address is on your account.

  • A message will arrive as soon as you can schedule a vaccination.

  • Open the message and click the link to book a shot.
