'Craig Fahle Show:' 'I'm an Average Detroiter' Who Can Bring People Together -- Council Candidate Latisha Johnson

January 28, 2021, 10:29 AM

The guest on the "Craig Fahle Show" on Deadline Detroit is Latisha Johnson, running for Detroit City Council in District Four. Johnson is a lifelong east-sider and as vice president of the East English Village Neighborhood Association. She is working to deal with blight and the foreclosure crisis.

A graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, she founded MECCA Development Corp., which deals with  workforce development, youth engagement and neighborhood revitalization.

"It's really exciting because I had a lot of neighbors encouraging me to run for City Council because of the work I've done in the community," she tells Fahle. "I am an average Detroiter.  Native Detroiter, born and bred ... graduated from public schools in the city.  I think when people look at me they look at the average Detroiter in the city who can grow up here, be educated here, be successful here, and someone who can bring people together to get work done."

The show previously talked to two other candidates in that district: M.L. Elrick and Toson Knight.
