Ira Todd
Ex-Detroit Police homicide detective Ira Todd spoke Friday about George Floyd's killing and his own trial after he was accused of murdering an unarmed Cuban immigrant in Southwest Detroit in 1993 while investigating gangs.
Todd and fellow officer Rico Hardy were acquitted in 1994 in Detroit's Recorder's Court in the death of Jose Itturalde, 42, after the jury deliberated about two hours. But Todd, who retired last year after 35 years, says he prays every day for the dead man's soul and still feels bad.
While he feels Minneapolis jurors did the right thing Tuesday by convicting Derek Chauvin on all three charges, he expresses empathy for the formerb officer. Hear the interview:
