Michigan continued to show hopeful signs for Covid, reporting 101 new cases on Friday and 0 deaths.

The zero deaths are the result of adjustments to the total numbers. Four deaths were subtracted Friday from the state's overall total following a records review, the state reports:

"This is due to ongoing data updates from the local health departments and data cleaning and quality assurance efforts by public health," health department spokeswoman Lynn Sutfin tells The Detroit News. "Therefore, the new daily deaths to report since yesterday’s data pull is zero."

The paper adds:

Last week, the state recorded two of the lowest daily totals seen in more than a year. This week however the state has added a total of 1,008 cases and 47 deaths from the virus, breaking a 10-week record of declining cases.

The reduced toll leads the Lansing agency to scale back its announcements of new infections and fatalities to just two days a week, down from six

Meanwhile, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating the death of 13-year-old Jacob Clynick of Saginaw County, who died after receiving a Covid vaccine. His funeral was June 26, The News says.
