Michiganders are digging deeper in their pockets these days to keep vehicles on the road.
Last week, average gas prices in the state hit a new high for the year at $3.21 a gallon for regular unleaded, the Detroit Free Press reports. The average dropped a penny Tuesday, but is likely to go back up because of crude oil prices.
The Freep reports:
Tuesday's price at the pump is 9 cents more than a week ago, and 18 cents more than at the same time a month ago and $1.03 than it was a year ago, according to the AAA Auto Club, which tracks prices at 4,200 stations in the state.
To put that price in perspective, motorists are paying $48 for a 15-gallon tank of gas.
In metro Detroit, the average price is higher, $3.28 a gallon.
