Storms sweep over Metro Detroit, leave 100,000+ without power

Over 100,000 DTE customers remain without power Thursday morning, following a line of strong thunderstorms that moved through the area Wednesday afternoon and evening (one-minute video below). Most are in southern Oakland County and eastern Macomb County.

I-275 in Farmington Hills had to close in both directions around rush hour, after the storm knocked down power lines and left them crossing the freeway. 

DTE's website indicates 72 crews are in the field, but if you have friends in Farmington Hills, West Bloomfield, Fraser or other dark areas, it might be a kindness to drop by with some Starbucks.
