Novice Detroit drifter brutally beaten for crashing into Dodge Challenger

July 28, 2021, 10:59 AM

You break it, you get your ass beat.

That seems to be street code in Detroit's drifting community, where an unseasoned driver who crashed into a Dodge Challenger while trying to burn out was brutalized by a group of onlookers. Video posted by WDIV shows men pull the 20-year-old from the vehicle then pistol whip, punch and stomp him as he tries to get away.

The man's sister tells the station he was severely injured. She described her brother as "just a big kid who likes to draw superheroes and wanted to try to drift in his friend’s car" while home from Ferris State University.

Detroit police are investigating the incident, which happened at 2:30 a.m. Monday on East Grand Boulevard.
