Zaid Elia has revived a 32,000-square-foot building in downtown Detroit that now houses the Capital One Café, a coffee shop that provides help with online banking.

With $18 million-plus, he redeveloped the four-story building at 511 Woodward Ave. that was once almost demolished for a parking deck, reports JC Reindl of the Detroit Free Press. Elia hopes to attract a restaurant, along with office tenants for the upper floors.

"Basically the whole building is brand new, except for the steel structure and the back wall," Bradford Egan, director of real estate for The Elia Group, tells the Freep.

Capital One Cafe serves Peet's Coffee.

Elia also owns the Ford Building, the Anchor Bar and Parc Detroit restaurant, all downtown.
